AURELIAN PHANT
What began as a conceptual wispish cloud design gradually took shape as an elephantine perch nestled in the oak branches that mimic the shape of gnarled tusks.
For this spectacle in bio mimicry, redwood, steel, stone, and Trex come together in a form inspired by the region's iconic wine barrels, and every piece, from the steel railing to the eye-like lookout window, was made specifically for this build.
Our goal was to face the home and deck toward the sweeping views without sacrificing a single living branch. So rather than working around the trees, the design works with them, weaving through their natural structure until the canopy becomes part of the architecture. The organic curves of the oaks carry into the heavy steel beams, generous glazing, and custom stairways, while branches flow between the decks toward a play net loft that feels immersive and deeply relaxing.
The result is a residence that responds to its setting instead of imposing on it, full of unexpected rooms, secret bunks, carefully framed views, and outdoor spaces nestled in the branches.
