Make A Wish - Jackie
A small redwood grove supports Jackie’s treehouse in Petaluma, CA. A generous donation of redwood and cedar lumber was secured to create this treehouse. The structure was designed to show off the beauty of the redwoods and create a spacious retreat that would allow the light to filter in. The large redwoods are ideal for supporting treehouses, but were tricky to utilize effectively in this backyard due to the dense brush from the redwoods on the southern property line.
The O2 team understood very quickly that clearing the abundance of branches would be extremely difficult and time consuming all while staying within the property owners lot lines. With that in mind, O2 designed a suspension method that cantilevers the structure in the midst of the commanding redwoods. If you view the treehouse at just the right angle it appears it may float away into the atmosphere.
The treehouse has hinged French patio doors, corrugated polycarbonate windows and the entire ceiling is a skylight. The structure is a bedazzling kaleidoscope of redwood branches, blue sky and sunlight.
