The Pinecone
This architectural marvel represents the pinnacle of O2 Treehouse's vision: immersing humans within nature's canopy while creating a space of wonder and reflection.
Suspended between ancient redwoods in the enchanted forests of Bonny Doon, the Pinecone Treehouse floats like a crystalline seed pod more than 50 feet above the forest floor. The 22-foot high by 14-foot diameter structure features 56 laser-cut steel diamond frames meticulously welded together to create its distinctive pinecone silhouette. Floor-to-ceiling glass panels provide breathtaking 360° panoramic views of the surrounding redwood canopy, dissolving the boundary between interior and forest.
An off-grid bathroom connected via wooden catwalk completes this self-sufficient sanctuary in the sky. Every element was crafted with intention - from the hand-built window frames to the innovative suspension system distributing the 5.5-ton weight across five living redwoods.
Featured on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and in countless publications worldwide, the Pinecone represents O2 Treehouse's commitment to creating transformative spaces where architecture and nature harmonize. Originally commissioned for an advertising campaign, we invested additional resources to ensure no compromise to our artistic vision.
The Pinecone embodies our core philosophy: crafting extraordinary spaces that reconnect humans with the wonder of the natural world, inspiring visitors to dream, reflect, and experience the forest from an entirely new perspective.
