Mandolin Meander Bridge

Spanning the forest floor with sculptural concrete and sustainable palm, this educational skybridge weaves art, ecology, and innovation into a living classroom.

The Mandolin Meander Bridge reimagines the forest walkway as both functional pathway and evolving artwork, featuring sustainable Durapalm treads that give new life to traditionally discarded palm lumber. Custom-cast concrete pillars, designed by Andrew Holder and fabricated using CNC technology, anchor deep into the earth with forms specifically created to welcome moss and forest life—transforming infrastructure into habitat. This epic collaboration brings together artists, engineers, and sustainable material innovators to create an educational experience where students of all ages can reconnect with natural history. As nature reclaims the sculptural elements over time, the bridge becomes a living lesson in sustainable design and ecological integration.
